The Turbocharger returns as a spider, bashguard, and chainring built for E-MTB motor systems.
Bashguards used to be normal. Then narrow-wide rings and clutch derailleurs solved the dropped chain, chainguides thinned out, and the bashguard went with them.
The rocks didn't go anywhere.
E-MTBs made it worse. They're heavier, they carry speed into things, and the part behind your chainring is a motor. Meanwhile most of these systems drive a direct-mount ring and have no ISCG tabs, so there's nowhere obvious to bolt protection even if you want it.
That's the gap the Turbocharger fills.
What it is
One assembly that replaces your direct-mount ring:
A forged and CNC-machined 104 BCD spider in AL-7075-T6, made in four versions for different motors.
A composite bashguard that takes the hit.
A Helix 104 BCD aluminum chainring in 32T or 34T, with our M4 narrow-wide tooth profile.
Mounting hardware is included, along with spacers if for some reason you need to run the spider without the bashguard.
Which motor
Four spiders, each with the offset that motor needs to land on a 55mm chainline:
| Motor | Offset | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Bosch SX, also CX Gen 4 | 15.5mm | 218g (32T), 234g (34T) |
| Fazua Ride 60 | 18mm | 227g (32T), 244g (34T) |
| TQ HPR 50/60 | 12mm | 203g (32T), 219g (34T) |
| DJI Avinox | 8mm | 220g (34T) |
Avinox is 34T only. Every other system takes either size.
The 104 BCD decision
The spider could have been a proprietary interface. It's not. It's standard four-bolt 104 BCD, which means when the ring wears out you can replace it with any 104 BCD ring, ours or anyone else's, in aluminum or in steel.
The included Helix ring uses the M4 narrow-wide profile and works with Shimano, TRP, and SRAM 11 and 12 speed drivetrains, T-Type included.
If you want maximum retention
The bashguard and the narrow-wide ring do a really good job of retaining the chain for most riders, but if you want the absolute maximum retention, you can add a chainguide.
Our e*spec chainguides take a Turbocharger-compatible upper slider, sold separately at €12.95.
The composite bash ring is also available on its own at €14.95, for when you have finally hit something hard enough.
What it costs
The Turbocharger Race e*spec is €99.95 in every size and configuration.
One note on fitment: we guarantee compatibility with our own cranks. If you're running another brand, check the compatibility guide on the product page before you order.
